bayview Secondary School
This year through 1UP, I want to encourage youth to engage in the transportation planning process. I am interested in cycling, public transportation, environmentalism, and the Oxford comma.

This year through 1UP, I hope to expand my social connections and contribute more to my school community. In my spare time, I enjoy playing sports and watching shows.

I want to give students at my school the opportunity to learn about urban architecture and the whole design and creation process. I wish to give those who want to make a difference in our community the opportunity to do so! I like to sleep. Oh and eat, but mainly play video games.

I want to have students take advantage of a mini outdoor space found in my school area. My interests and hobbies are art, dance and reading manga.

I want to practice the various skills required to flourish as a youth city builder, enabling others around the school community the ability to solve communal dilemmas, so that everyone is empowered in the daily facets of their life. I love reading novels, jamming to music, practicing chess, having fun with friends, traveling to different countries, and being myself no matter what.

While our school is being renovated, students have been relocated to a small building that lacks the homeliness and comfort of the old building. With 1UP, I hope to somewhat restore the integrity of the old UTS building using design and public space in our temporary home. I enjoy painting, walking my dog, and travelling.

I want the school's atmosphere to shout "welcome"; my goal is to make Marc Garneau a more cheerful and lively community that makes students feel safe as they walk onto the premises. I love hand-lettering, biking, and playing the trumpet.

ST. ROBERT CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL
I hope that our ideas of change towards the community will be able to inspire and show that there is more to being a student than studying. I love exploring, finding new perspectives in viewing the norm and I also love sports, photography, and laughs.

Through 1UP this year, I hope to address the issue of lack of space in my school, as well as get students and teachers to have a welcoming environment when arriving to school. I like listening to music, photography and playing volleyball.

EARL HAIG SECONDARY SCHOOL
Earl Haig is a certified eco-school. With nearly 3000 students, we do not have a composting service and are not very aware of our overall footprint. You may imagine how much food waste is produced daily at our school, so I will develop composting options and pickup arrangements. I will also look to develop opportunities to spread information and awareness about our ecological impact as a school community, including our carbon footprint. Our use of paper may benefit from a sourcing change (sustainable, responsible sources) as well! I love raising awareness, acting and taking action, and being present every moment.

This year through 1UP, I hope to transform my school’s complaints and calls for change in our outdoor space into real planning and action. In my downtime, I like to involve myself in things that interest me. Whether they be the stock market, machine learning, or in this case, urban planning.

harold M. brathwaite Secondary school
Harold M. Brathwaite is a school which offers multiple programs for students to take apart, including the IB Program, SHSM Law, and SHSM Business. Although this provides the students of HB with multiple sources to activate their learning, the school lacks an effective outlet where they can successfully relieve their stress. Through the 1UP chapter, I plan to create a Wellness Center in the school where students can sign up to relax and destress during hectic occasions, providing the ultimate solution to this problem. I love music, photography, and exploring the depths of my abilities to better my community.
